Film Synopsis

Ava is 17 years old with a passion for the violin, crushes on boys and a typical adolescent rebellious streak. When Ava is marched to the doctor to confirm her virginity in the face of rumour, she is traumatized. Further troubles at her strict all-girls school and the societal shame found in her association with her best friend’s fractured family soon follow. As her teenage life gives way to the realities of adulthood and the predetermined life in Tehran set out for her by her equally strong-willed mother, Ava must find the confidence to set her own path even if it threatens the privilege and stability her family has worked hard to attain. Ava is the story of how children are often misunderstood by, yet are all too similar to their parents.
