ZHAO Qi is a documentary filmmaker in Beijing. He worked as producer for the feature documentary Last Train Home (2009), which won two Emmy awards and the APSA for Best Documentary Film, and China Heavy Weight (2012), which won the Golden Horse Prize in Taiwan. His directorial debut Fallen City (2011) followed the aftermath struggle of three surviving families of the Sichuan earthquake for 4 years and was nominated in 2013 Sundance’s World Documentary competition. His film The Chinese Mayor (2015), in which he serves as producer and scriptwriter, was chosen by 2015 Sundance Festival and won the APSA for Best Documentary.
The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of country, including the custodial communities on whose land works are created and celebrated by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and present. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
