Mikhail Krichman graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts in 1995. Krichman has been Director of Photography on all of Andrey Zvyagintsev’s films, from his directorial debut The Return (2003) and The Banishment (2007), to Elena (2011), for which he was awarded the top cinematography prize at both the Bely Kvadrat (White Square) awards and the Golden Eagle awards presented by the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia, and now Leviathan. In 2010, Krichman received a Golden Osella (Best Cinematography) award at the 67th Venice Film Festival for Alexey Fedorchenko’s Silent Souls. Mikhail worked as Cinematographer on the feature films Miss Julie (2014), directed by Liv Ullmann and starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain and Loveless (2017) Andrey Zvyagintsev’s latest feature.
