Lakshmipriya Devi - Asia Pacific Screen Awards

Lakshmipriya Devi always wanted to tell stories, but chose never to direct one if the story did not come from within. That story organically emerged while seeking closure from an uncomfortable part of her childhood, in Manipur – a place called home in the northeastern corner of India.

A graduate in economics with honours and a postgraduate in mass communications, she drew from her experience as a first assistant director in landmark Indian productions such as Luck by Chance, Talaash, PK and A Suitable Boy to make her directorial debut with Boong. Boong is her bittersweet memory of her home, Manipur.

The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
