Lee Whitmore is an artist and animator based in Sydney, Australia. She grew up in a family of artists and began her career designing sets for the theatre and illustrating children’s books. She moved into film as a designer for title sequences followed by being a production designer on two features: Stir directed by Stephen Wallace and Winter of Our Dreams directed by John Duigan.

Wanting to create something more personal, Lee animated her first film Ned Wethered (11 mins). This was well received and prompted her to continue animating – a skill she has learnt and developed as she has gone along. The animations that followed are On a Full Moon (17 mins), Ada (7 mins), The Safe House (26 mins), Sohrab and Rustum (17 mins) and most recently Travels on My Donkey (30 mins).

Lee has also enjoyed working on a commission for Breathing Under Water directed by Susan Murphy, Westall 66 directed by Rosie Jones and recently Bigsy – a sequence in Magic Beach, the feature directed by Robert Connolly.

She is now in pre-production on her 7th personal animated film, 84 Shirley Road. Like all her previous animations this will be hand drawn and hand painted.
