Venice De Castro Atienza is a Filipino documentarist whose work focuses on how personal and societal transformations manifest in everyday life. To create a space for author-driven documentaries, she co-founded Svemirko Film and Audiovisual Art Productions with Taiwanese director and producer Fan Wu.
Her first feature-length documentary Last Days at Sea premiered at the 71st Berlinale – Generation Kplus, Visions du Réel 2021, Hot Docs and IDFA – International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam.
She was part of the International Jury of the 73rd Berlinale – Generation Kplus 2023 and the UNICEF Innocenti Film Festival 2021. She produced Fan Wu’s XiXi, which earned the Emerging International Filmmaker Award at HotDocs 2024. She’s a member of DAE- Documentary Association of Europe.

We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and present. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
