Papermaker Liu Jin-xi lives a seemingly normal life with his wife Ayu and two sons in a remote and idyllic village. Liu becomes caught up in the death of two notorious criminals who attempt to rob the local shop. The court sends eccentric detective Xu Bai-jiu to investigate. Being a martial arts fanatic, Xu is convinced that the criminals’ deaths are no accident. How could the unarmed papermaker Liu defeat two trained killers? Xu comes to the conclusion that Liu, whom he has come to admire, is hiding something. But will his curiosity and determination bring trouble for Liu and his family?
