Iranian screenwriter Mehran Kashani has collaborated with acclaimed directors on many award-winning films. Though Kashani graduated university as a mechanical engineer, he moved into film as an assistant director and script consultant to Reza Mirkarimi in Under the Moonlight (2001) and Here is a Shining Light (2002). In 2003, Kashani started his screenwriting career with Sunflower Farm (2003), and his credits include Hamid Rahmanian’s Day Break (2005), Iran’s official submission for the Academy Awards® The Song of Sparrows (2008) by Iranian master Majid Majidi, APSA 2010 Best Children’s Feature Film winner Mehdi Rahmani’s The Other (2009) and Ali Atshani’s Negar’s Role (2013), before reuniting with Reza Mirkarimi for Daughter which recently won Best Film, Best Actor and the Audience Award at the Moscow International Film Festival.
