Payman Maadi was born in 1970, and is primarily known as an actor, especially for Asghar Farhadi’s About Elly (2009) and A Separation (2011), both of which won APSAs. A Separation won an Oscar® and Maadi won a Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has acted in American productions including the Emmy®-winning HBO series The Night Of, Michael Bay’s 13 Hours (2016) and Peter Sattler’s Camp X-Ray (2104) alongside Kristen Stewart. Bomb, A Love Story received script development funding through the 2011 MPA APSA Academy Film Fund and is Maadi’s second film as director following The Snow on the Pines (2012) and seventh as writer.
