In a journey plagued by depleting natural resources and delineated by the two elements of fire and water, Shiva, an audio installation artist from Kolkata, visits the largest coal mine region of eastern India for his work. He is not only overwhelmed by the sights of fire, but also by the colossal scale and the rhythm of sounds. Faced with the highly complex socio-political system, he struggles to find leads in his work and his woes are aggravated as his own life gets intertwined with that in the mines. Shiva eventually moves to a tribal village in a dense forest, along with local miner Deepak. Deepak becomes the vehicle through whom Shiva gets acquainted with the philosophy of life in a forest, far from the facades of urban life.
